HK I'm Coming !

On the 26th of December, I will fly off to Hong Kong for five days. I've been excited for it because the last time I went there was like...a year ago. Despite the hecticness of HK, it is officially my favorite city. Nothing beats the shopping atmosphere at Kingston Street.

Here are my random list of ohh-ing and ahh-ing :
1. I'm excited to see Hong Kong local designers and the high street stores, especially
2%. They had a lot of Japanese influence things going on. Plus, the high street prices are BEYOND cheap.
2. Remember that there are
Lane Crawford and Joyce outlet store in Horizon Plaza. I've heard that they low down the prices of last season's collection 'till 90% !
3. I will check the
Comme des Garçons Guerilla store. The design of it is really interesting, and so does their concept : to close down the store (yes, even if they made huge profit) after certain months (or a year? I forgot) since they had opened.
4. I will buy magazines and fashion books (maybe the Victoria Beckham book? Yes, call me superficial) there, because it's way cheaper and some magazines rarely available in Jakarta (i.e.
French Vogue)
5. Finally there's a place to wear light coat and opaque tights (I live in a place where it's summer all the time!).

so everyone, before I go I wanna say :

have a heartful xmas and fashionable new year ! !

Everything in One Thing

Today, my friend asked me to send her some inspirational pictures for her friend's birthday party outfit choosing. The party theme is : Chic and Glamour. Yes, I know, the theme really sounds lame, boring, and not creative. On the other side, I thought, it is a little bit fun to pick some beautiful pictures from my overload fashion folder, and send it to my friend.

So, as I was flipping through those jpeg files, I found this NYLON December/January cover picture, with Michelle Williams on it. And I think this outfit is really really beautiful. It is dressy, but casual at the same time. Stylish, but also edgy. It is really amazing that this goodness existed.

The Art of Backlund

So, today, I received a mail from Sandra Backlund. Suprisingly, they not only sent me the regular collection info on paper, but also a CD supplement. On the CD, you can view the "Don't Walk" collection that they haven't put on the website!

A quick info, Sandra Backlund is a designer from Stockholm, just graduated from Beckmans School of Design in 2004. Her unique point is that she always use handicraft technique to make the clothes, sort of heavy wool collage knitting. And I found that she could really transform the natural silhoutte of the body with the heavy knitting things.

Super Stylish Notebook

I am the person who tend to write inspirations that I saw from magazines or internet in my "fashion" notebook (it sounds really geeky, right?). And basicly, I couldn't resist these notebooks/diaries.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the iconic Smythson Fashion Diary, they had released a collection of well-designed 2007 diary, designer ones. The designers are Alexander McQueen, Zac Posen, Giambatistta Valli, and Missoni. Exciting, no?

For the price of £225.00 each, they are rather expensive. But I bet it will look good on everything.

Letter from the Chicqual...

Finally! I have made this blog-a-blog thing among all others 8,000 fashion blogs out there. For quite a long time loving and consuming fashion, and finding many precious inspirations as well, I feel like it's nice to share my little thoughts about fashion to all of you.

About the name of the blog, I choosed it randomly from an article on The Daily. Chicqual is a 'word' that they made to use as synonym of 'chic in equal'. For example : "Irina Lazareanu is the model of the moment. She has no chicqual." Something like that. And me thinks it sounds cute.

Well, I'm not considerating myself as a style expert (or blog expert. It's my first experience of writing blogs. Still amateur at it...), so this blog may not refer to at-the-moment trend or runway looks (but I'm not anti-trend as well!). This blog is more about... my personal musings and joys of fashion.

So, let's start this wonderful blogging journey... (Gasp, writing this first post is already taking like.. half an hour)

And yes, your comments and thoughts are very beautiful to me ! !
